At Moonah Primary School we have a strong focus of integrating technology into our teaching. Classrooms have a ratio of 1:2 devices for student use, and we are constantly updating our technology to keep with today’s demands. Our teachers use a range of online resources to improve students learning opportunities, including Padlet, Typing Tournament, Sumdog, Sunshine Online, Improve and Prodigy, to name a few. We also use the apps Class Dojo and Seesaw to communicate with home and share our students’ work.
Classes run integrated lessons about how to use ICT safely, responsibly and ethically. Our older students have access to email, enabling them to communicate with their teachers, peers and the wider community. Students also have access to Sphero robots, Osmo coding kits and a lunchtime computer group in which they can develop their ICT knowledge and higher-order problem solving skills.
In Years 3-6 students may be nominated to the position in the ICT Crew. The students in this special leadership committee help to maintain our fleet of devices, solve ICT problems in the classroom, help create and run assembly PowerPoints, and give input into the direction of our school ICT resources.
